Speed train traveling through station
High-speed trains generally travel at more than 125 mph (201 km/h). New tracks allow for speeds of well above 150 mph (241 km/h). The Japanese Shinkansen, known in English as a bullet train, was the first modern high-speed rail in the world. It began service in 1964 just in time for the Tokyo Olympics.
