Fontana della Naiadi
The Fontana della Naiadi (Fountain of the Naiads) at the Piazza della Repubblica in Rome, Italy. The fountain originally featured four lion sculptures, but they were replaced in 1901 with four sculptures of Naiads by Mario Rutelli. The naiads are the Nymph of the Lakes, the Nymph of the Rivers, the Nymph of the Oceans, and the Nymph of the Underground Waters. The piazza in which the fountain is located was once known as Piazza dell'Esedra, a reference to the old exedra of the baths of Diocletian, from which the current piazza and surrounding buildings take their semicircular shape.
