Sprouting acorn seed
Acorns, or oak nuts, are heavily relied on as a major food source for many animals around the world, and at one time, humans as well. Acorns are still occasionally used for human consumption today, especially acorn meal as a substitute for flour, such as in dotori guksu Korean noodles. However, acorns contain large amounts of tannin which must be thoroughly soaked out before use as they are bitter to taste and ill-inducing in large quantities.
