Glowing cat eyes

Eyes of a common domestic house cat illuminated by a soft light. Predatory animals that are adapted to hunting at night appear to have glowing eyes when a light hits them. Their eyes contain a reflective layer known as the tapetum lucidum which reflects light back through the retina to increase phototransduction, giving the animal greater visibility in low light at the cost of slightly blurred vision.
